This model is an educational manipulative I designed for a Physics Professor at Mt. Holyoke College teaching introductory Physics to non-Majors. His class was learning electromagnetism where cross products, and therefore the right hand rule, is used heavily. The right hand rule is a powerful tool used in many areas of physics but it can be confusing for folks who are encountering vectors and really challenging their 3D reasoning skills for the first time. This 3 piece print has a green “start” or “go” arrow you align with your A vector, a swiveling red “stop” or “end” arrow you align with your B vector, and a black “resultant” arrow that tells you the final direction of your vector multiplication. The guard on the green piece is designed to restrict the rotation of the B vector to be between 5 and 175 degrees from the A vector.
