Rod Holder Drain

This is a drain cap for a standard 2" Sea Dog brand boat rod holder. This particular one was designed for the stern mount tubes on an Arima, but should work for most other factory holders. Output is set up for a 3/8" ID hose.

Run a bead of silicone on the inside of the cup before you slip it on, and be ready for a snug fit. The point where the nipple connects to the cup tends to be a weak point, so the little donut is there for reinforcement. Be careful not to break it when putting on the tube, and if you do a little epoxy will seal it back up.

It's a whole lot easier to install these by taking the old rod holders out completely and, if you need to, enlarging the holes with a flap disk to fit the cup down through vs. trying to put them on from inside the stern of the boat. If you enlarge the holes, be sure to seal up any exposed wood with marine epoxy.
