Looking for a way to mount a (large) filament spool on a Rostock Max?
Look no more, print this spool mount and its smooth rolling from here on.
Print the spool roller and bracket, screw the threaded rod into the bracket, slide on the roller, fix with the locking nuts. Slide on your favorite roll of filament, and lock in place by threading a piece of 1.75mm filament through the holes in the roller.
Tested with a 3kg filament spool and worked great, also works for normal 1 kg spools of course.
The roller has a diameter 52mm and contains retaining holes for spool widths of 55, 70 and 100mm.
Bill of materials:
- 1 threaded rod M8x160mm
- 1 Washer M8
- 2 Self-locking nuts/nylocs, or 4 normal nuts
- 1 piece of min 100mm long 1.75mm filament
- the 2 printed files
