I was fixing a broken 15 year old Halloween skeleton finding this rotary concept to be functional. The spring was unusually strong but once installed gave steady rotation across the gears.

Each side goes in a round picket with two stop pins that keep the joint from free spinning in the socket. You do need to leave room for the spring assembly and tower to stash to one side of the joint.

Dimensions

The disk is 19.8mm x 2.8mm and the geared OD is 16.4mm. x 3.2mm for a total height of 6mm from the outer edge to the top of the gear on each side.

The notches are 2.3mm wide and about 2.3mm deep. The overall assembly is 25.2mm tall. The spring cutout is 16.5mm in diameter and the spring inset is 1.2mm deep.

I printed the tower to be printed friendly. I printed it upright with 4 vertical perimeters. The notch in the side of the tower is to allow the gear to slip over at an angle. Slide on a spring and then the lock pin.
