Drilling a round hole to a random material is much easier for me than drilling some mounting holes and the proper hole for a connector. I designed this adapter to accommodate a cheap micro USB breakout board and one LED in a round adapter that can be easily installed on a panel or side of some box. It's a bit bulky but does the job. I plan to create a smaller version once I get smaller micro USB or USB-C connector boards.
The 3mm LED is a tight fit but I'll use some glue to fix the PCB to it's place. The cutout allow access to the pads of the PCB in case the cable need to be replaced but it's better to solder them before inserting the PCB to the adapter.
The included M20 nut is a nut generated by FreeCAD's Fasteners module. No customization was done on that component.
This is a learning design for me. Hints and suggestions are welcome.
