Router Plane

A precision router plane designed to achieve perfectly leveled bottoms on dados, housings, and mortises. The solid main body provides mass and stability, ensuring the tool maintains its position on the work surface without unwanted lateral movement. The depth adjustment mechanism utilizes a fine-thread system engineered to minimize backlash, enabling the user to set cutting depth with sub-millimeter accuracy. Contact points are shaped for long term ergonomic comfort, while the blade position and clamping geometry are optimized to maintain strict alignment even under lateral cutting forces. The overall design accounts for practical manufacturing processes including milling operations, insert placement, and the fine tuning of mechanical components. This project strengthened my skills in precision mechanism development, complex ergonomic form design, and achieving accurate component alignment in assembled mechanical systems.
