Do you know the problem of having an external ssd hanging of your laptop and then changing workplaces, trying to put everything together while it is sliding all over you keyboard or the top of your laptop. I had the same but came up with this solution. A lot of people use velcro but i wanted something more solid. The case makes the drive only slighty larger and keeps the cable attached, but if you need to use a larger cable the ssd can easily be slid out of the case and be used like normal. It also protects the usb port and cable from any movement if left attached inside a bag. I designed the mounting plate to be very slim. this way I can still slide my macbook inside a backpack without it hanging behind something. I used some smoll m3 screws and nuts to secure the cable clamp. Feel free to change the design if you have any other ideas and please let me know.
