The SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) is a type of robotic arm designed for tasks requiring high precision and speed, like assembly and pick-and-place operations. Its configuration allows for rigid vertical movement while maintaining flexibility in the horizontal plane. This is where I ended up designing one. I took inspiration from a now discontinued project (https://hackaday.com/2020/10/19/pybot-is-a-3d-printed-scara-arm-for-the-masses/) and built everything from scratch.
The arm only has 3DoF and misses the end-effector. It has a universal mount that lets you attach whatever you want to the forearm with a couple of m3 screws 10mm apart.
You can find BOM, project history, code and build instructions in this Github repo: https://github.com/ggldnl/SCARA
Notes:
- little to no support (except for the reduction gear)
- no special settings applied, I used the standard print profile
