Scorpio

This is my second entry for the NEC future desk design challenge. The priority of this really unusual design was the futuristic approach. By designing something that may be used in the future you have to think outside the box, right? For this design I was inspired by nature or to be more precise, by scorpions. The manufacturability of a table like this surely isn't that cheap, but it is definitely eye catching with the look to the future. THE FEATURES The table has a fully adjustable seat, the functionality is very close to a workout machine (like the butterfly machine). In general the position that a person sits in is more relaxed then by sitting on a standard office chair. The back is therefore exonerated of the stress and this way you avoid back pain. However many of the features here have not been fully developed. This goes for the arm/keyboard holder which I made here at a fixed position. This should definitely be adjustable with a screw mechanism connected to the main (central) pipe. Also the screen holder should have a joint like connecting mechanism, so you could fully regulate the position of the screen. But as far as I have understood this design challenge, the focus is on the design while you have to keep the product at a do-able level. HOW TO MANUFACTURE AND ASSEMBLY A TABLE LIKE THIS? For an engineer this surely is one of the first questions that pops up. First, the materials used. I personally would use steel pipes, because it would be the cheapest material to use. The whole table would not be very lightweight, but a table is supposed to be static at one place so this should not be an important factor. The angles at which the pipes would be bend should probably be changed or adjusted (this goes especialy for legs of the table) so it would be easier to make. The legs would be welded on the main pipe that also carries weight of the screen. Because the main pipe is relatively long I think it would be best to make the main pipe out of 2 shorter ones. This
