I was inspired by this photo and wanted to recreate a similar transparent effect using only 3D printing specifically with translucent PETG, which I won in the “Let There Be Light” Design Contest.I became a bit obsessed with achieving the most transparent walls possible. After many test prints and tweaking countless advanced settings, I came to the conclusion that the basic ones actually deliver the best results. You can see all of my test attempts in the photo below. That said, there were some compromises which is why I created two versions of the water in the print profile:The first version is printed on its side. It has a matte finish with smoother, cleaner waves. The second version is printed in the standard vertical orientation. It has a transparent wall that refracts light, but the wave surface is slightly jagged. You can choose whichever version best fits your preference. To add a bit of interactivity, I included a shipwreck and a kraken inside the sea section.
