I was fascinated by Art Olsen's model of how icosohedral viruses can self-assemble using only random motions (video: https://youtu.be/w57RxEYygeE, Olsen video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-8MP7g8XOE). @jkrs made a fantastic model using 3x1.5mm magnets.
This remix makes the model much easier to print
- Change STL units to mm
- Modify the exterior pattern to eliminate the large bridge
- Remove small text from the magnet holes
- Ensure manifold
I recommend a strong superglue when adding magnets. This design requires 120 magnets, and you really don't want them falling out when shaking!
