This needle plate is compatible with many low end VSP (VIking/Husqvarna Singer Pfaff) with front loading oscillating hook sewing machines.
It hinders the formation of a stitch when the needle meets the sleeve on the leftmost position of the zig-zag. It achieves the same result as using a double eye needle and can double the maximum stitch length of the machine using a simple zig-zag or, even better, a blind stitch that only travels to the left every once in a while.
