A plug that slips over the end of a bit to aid in establishing a Shaper Origin grid. Current design fits the 1/4 inch upcut spiral. If there's interest I can add plugs for other straight-sided bits (at least those I own)
The Shaper Origin requires exact calibration for optimal results. Usual workflow to grid a workpiece is to flip the engraving bit upside-down to grid against the shank. Because an upcut spiral bit is irregularly shaped, you may get inconsistent calibration by gridding against it alone.
This plug slips over the end of an upcut spiral bit to calibrate against a smooth, constant diameter. The plug can be easily attached and detached without having to loosen and remove the spindle, nor does it require recalibrating the touch point, speeding up workflow. Note that the gridding bit diameter and the cutting bit diameter can be different, so no worries there!
Due to potential deviations or expansion/contraction in 3D printing, it's best to measure the exact diameter
