This can mount to a 3/4" thick shelf.
It doubles as a hanger for a 3/4" dowel rod (I use it for spools of wire and solder above my desk).
It's also a light shade, i needed something to block the light mounted under the shelf / above my desk.
I just ripped a piece of 1/4" plywood down to 6 3/4" inches to mount to these hangers.
