I designed this shoe tree (schoenspanner in Dutch) with the help of a 3D scan of a wooden shoe tree, size 42.
There are 3 shoe trees: sizes 37-40, sizes 41-43 & sizes 44-47.
(I have only printed size 41-43. Let me know if there is something wrong with the other two.)
I made them hollow with a voronoi pattern, so the shoe can air. There is also a blender file of the original shape so you can make your own design.
The rods that connect the heel to the feet have threads so you can change the length of the shoe tree a little.
Everything is 3D printed, except for the springs. 3D printed M6 bolts and nuts work fine for this purpose. You could also use steel bolts and nuts. The size is M6 with a maximum bolt head diameter of 10mm. The nut hole is a square of 8.5x8.5mm, so a steel M6 nut does NOT fit. M5 does fit.
I tried 3D printed springs, but there yield strength is to low. The spring stiffnesses should approximately be: k = 2.8 N/mm
k_3d printed spring = 0.5 N/mm (way to
