This is my incredibly lazy attempt at a short throw twist axis.
For a more accurate reading on your Z-Axis, refer to the last picture.
With the original design, the throw on the twist is pretty long and the dead-zone is... noticeable . This version shortens the throw of your twist axis without modification to your code. The dead-zone is a lot smaller/non-existent. Adjust your limits within your game/software. In Star Citizen using this short throw twist axis, I set my Z-Axis deadzone at .10
I am using the linked springs. They are pretty heavy at .8mm wire diameter, however the Z-Axis returns to center easily. You can also use .6mm wire diameter. It will be easier to twist but you might find yourself manually twisting the joysticks to center (you twist your joystick and it does not return to center automatically so you have to manually center it).

Insert the magnets into the 2 inner slots, NOT the 2 outer slots.
