Hello everyone. I would like to emphasize and demonstrate the peculiarity and importance of the blocking element generating a very precise holding force for the panels. Because an error in this force, or the inability to compensate for it due to the reaction of the mechanism, will lead to extremely large deformations of the entire structure. In the previous competition, a lot of works were implemented in accordance with these requirements, and this requirement was also a condition of that competition, but for some reason it was sometimes not paid attention to. 1. If the mechanism does this with an error of force when blocking the segments, then the formed shape of the antenna will be incorrect. 2. If the antennas will be affected by solar radiation, this will lead to a slight deformation, and if the mechanism cannot compensate for this and adjust the force to the specified one, it will also lead to deformation of the antenna. 3. This effect accumulates because if the segments form a strip, it will be summed up according to each connection of this strip (and this will result in a colossal deviation). 4. It would be bad if the mechanism does not have a slight reverse action, otherwise it turns it into a one-sided action, where the force only increases due to its increasingly strong blocking from maneuvering vibration, or thermal deformation cycles. The illustration does not specifically show specific values and quantities, as it is simply a demonstration of the principle of influence, the path of propagation. The peculiarity that makes this significant is that kinematic connections are not a full-fledged connection, but play the role of a swing. And because of this, the deformation of the side surface is multiplied over the entire length of the segment and panel. I hope it will be useful to someone. This is just my opinion.
