This knife sharpener jig is simple, but effective. The slide is a printed block with 20° ends. The slide takes advantage of the slippery characteristics of printed plastics. The knife holder is basic but holds most knife handles firmly. A sandpaper with 220 grit is a good place to start a then followed by finer grit if desired. No burr is created even with the 220 grit.

Print 2 of the k clamp files, but use wood screws to fasten only one to the wooden board base. I used 1 x 4 of adequate length for the longest knife you will sharpen.

I used a 1/4 - 28 bolt and nuts from a previous project to clamp the knife handle in place.

Unlike some other knife sharpeners, this approach provides a consistent sharpening angle. Cut the sandpaper shorter than the block, grip the sandpaper onto the block and slide it along the blade. Keep the 20° end firmly against the wood base.
