UPDATE April 28, 2026: I am a moron. The vent cover mechanism and servo were reversed in my pictures. The servo should be towards the front and the gear should be facing towards the back. UPDATE April 9, 2026: Modified code to detach the servo when movement is not needed. There are a few incredibly designed automatic vent controls for the Sunlu AMS Heater out there. As well thought out as they are, they are complex and require a lot of extra parts. This is an attempt to create a simpler version. This version incorporates the servo mount and vent cover mechanism from Kevin G's original design but uses a simple external temperature based controller. It uses a WeMos D1 Mini v4 clone (feel free to use whatever board you prefer) with a DHT22 temperature sensor to control the servo based on the temperature of the top of the AMS heater.
