Slate coaster holder for tortoise table

After putting a tortoise table on top of my coffee table I found I had nowhere to put my drink any more. After several seconds thinking about it I decided to design a coaster holder for the edge of the table.
It also doubles as a bracket to hold a metal fence down to keep other animals out of the table.
