Tired of spiral fidget toys that constantly fall apart or jam? This Puzzle-Lock Kinetic Sphere completely reimagines the classic spiral design. By engineering a unique, interlocking puzzle mechanism right at the top pole, the moving segments are physically locked into place. You get a fluid, satisfying sliding movement that feels incredibly smooth without any risk of the pieces separating. Quick Slicing Guide The Elephant’s Foot Fix: Make sure to apply "Elephant's Foot Compensation" in your slicer. If the first layer squishes too much, the interlocking puzzle links will fuse together and won't move! Perimeters: Set your walls to 2–3 perimeters to give the small joint connections maximum strength. Layer Thickness: Use 0.2mm or less to make sure the curved outer shell feels seamless in your hand. Material Choice: Silk PLA is the absolute best option here, as it beautifully highlights the moving shadows along the seams. Sizing & Sound Tuning The acoustics of this toy depend entirely on your internal structure. Dropping your infill down to 0–5% creates a louder, higher-pitched clicking sound, while a dense infill results in a heavier, much quieter tone. The 80mm Sweet Spot: This model is natively designed at 80mm, making it the perfect two-handed rolling size and an awesome display piece. Want a different scale? The geometry is easily adjustable right inside your slicer if you want to experiment with scaling it up or down. Stay Tuned: If you are looking for a dedicated, optimized smaller version, an update is coming very soon! Zero supports required! The overhangs are completely self-supporting. Drop a photo of your print in the Makes—I'd love to see how alternating colors or rainbow filaments look with this mechanism!
