My design of the classic spool winder.
- Easy to screw open and close without tool
- Fits spools of any size
- Easy to print without support
- Parametric using OnShape
Included STLs and STEP have the following properties:
- Good for spools with:
- Hole diameter: 48mm → 80mm
- Spool width: 20mm → 78mm
- To be mounted on a 100mm M8 bolt with one nut
I use a tight fit for my designs. Therefore, the "Horizontal Expansion" / "X-Y ... compensation" in your slicer should be properly calibrated.
If your print settings are not calibrated, just use 0.1mm or more if your printer is bad.
Note: The printed thread has an added play of 0.2mm
As an example, I printed mine in ABS with "X-Y hole compensation" : 0.05mm and "X-Y contour compensation" : 0mm.
If you wish, customize it by just typing new values for:
- Bolt diameter
- Bolt head Size
- Spool minimum allowed width
- Spool maximum allowed width
- Thread Play
- ...
