This is a simple adapter to give your Shure SM57 (or one of its clones) a right-angle bend. It's great for miking snares, where the hi-hat normally gets in the way, and might be useful for miking amps and the like, depending on your mic stand and any other mics you are using on your cabs.To install, unscrew your mic and desolder the leads. Print out the model (use supports) and use a heat gun to soften the ends. Screw the ends into the halves of the mic, one at a time, and let the soft plastic create threads from the mic's metal threads. Unscrew the adapter and run the leads through and re-solder. I put electrical tape over the coupling locations just in case my ‘threads’ decide to escape. Shure themselves say not to do this because it will interfere with the acoustical chamber of the mic and may color the sound. I didn't do a lot of testing but swapping a SM57 with a $20 Behringer clone didn't change the sound in an appreciable way in the mix. Also note that I haven't actually tested
