Makes
Compact, simple, cheap, smart filament sensor capable of detecting jammed filament, nozzle clogs and no filament
Designed to use minimal hardware and to fit on top of the Ender 3 y axis motor pulley box.
Don't print with supports.
A drop of hot glue in hole in the inside of the lid diffuses the light well.
there are 2 options - No hardware(minimal) or hardware
The hardware version is tested and works well but requires:
1 x optical sensor
1 x m3 x 6mm machine screw for holding the optical sensor down
1 x m3 x 20mm machine screw for the spring assembly
1 x spring (4mm diameter, 4-5mm long)
2 x 1mm diameter screws about 5-10mm long - locks the bowden tube in place.
filament is used a an axle with a off-cut of bowden tubing as the axle sleeve.
the no hardware version requires superglue to hold the optical switch in place.
I use this with Octoprint and a plugin "Smart filament sensor".
there is an option in marlin for such a sensor but i haven't managed to get
