A Snail Barrier is a simple 3D-printable ring that you place around pots or young plants to stop slugs and snails from climbing up and eating the foliage.
Key features
Inner lip (“beak”): a small undercut flange that makes snails lose grip and slide off.
Low profile: typically 3–5 cm tall—tall enough to deter pests but low enough not to interfere with watering.
Easy to print: no complex supports needed; works well in PLA or more moisture-resistant PETG.
How to use
Slice the model
Import the .stl into your slicer (e.g. Cura, PrusaSlicer) and generate G-code.
Recommended: 0.2 mm layer height, 20–30% infill; choose PETG if it will sit in damp soil.
Print the barrier
Print at your usual nozzle temperature; no special support settings are required.
Install around your plants
Push the ring gently into the soil around the pot or stem, ensuring the lower lip is in solid contact with the ground.
Maintain
Check every 1–2 weeks for debris or leaf litter blocking the inner lip; brush
