Tow release mechanism design to release a Sparrow from quadcopter but could be used for other situations.
Use fishing line or other small tow line with a loop in the end of it. Attach a push rod to a servo and set it so that the travel pushed the rod all of the way out the other side while at the same time it does't drop out of the tow housing on the servo site.
