Speaker Dampener

This project is a universal vibration dampening base originally developed for the Harman Kardon Soundsticks III, but designed to function with any speaker system supported by legs.The device suspends the speaker using an integrated spiral spring mechanism fabricated as a single 3D print. A compliant internal platform floats within the housing, mechanically decoupling the speaker from the floor surface.By isolating structure-borne vibrations, the system significantly reduces low-frequency transmission and secondary resonance through flooring materials. The result is cleaner acoustic performance within the room and reduced noise transfer to adjacent spaces.Tested in continuous use for over three years, the mechanism has proven durable and consistently effective. While first applied to a specific model, the geometry and suspension logic are adaptable, making the dampener compatible with a wide range of freestanding speakers.
