I recently got my new Thing-O-Matic and matching Mk1 Spindle( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3116 ). After a while of using it I found that the filament would become slack and slide off the the spindle with time. This lead to a lot of jams that were ruining prints. So I came up with the idea of using something to keep the filament on the spool base. Sitting down with OpenSCAD and a little experimentation I came up with these. The basic idea is that the pegs work as outside edges for the spindle and keep the filament from falling underneath.
When I printed them I out I noticed two slight problems. The first being that there is not enough room inside the box to allow these on the outside of the spool. The second I noticed they seem to catch a little on the back side by the feed hole. The first problem was solved by cutting out notches in the bottom of the spool.
