Recently, I've started using a dryer for my filament (really cut down on stringing). I've started printing from the dryer. The 250g spools work fine, but when they get down below a quarter full the spool isn't heavy enough and the spool will twist and bang from side to side.
I originally wanted to make an adapter to fix that problem. I'd also seen posts where cardboard spools got damaged. So, I figured I would make the adapter for a full size spool and use a spacer to fill in for the 250g spool.
I've tested on sunlu 250g, jayo (1kg & 650g cardboard) works great. Most of my spools have a 53-55mm hole, shaft of the spool without any spacer is 40mm. I have a few plastic spools with about a 74mm hole. I designed a 72mm sleeve, but haven't printed and tested that one.
9/12/23: I had a cardboard spool. filament was tangling at both sides (messed up a 7hr print). Pulled both ends off the spool and put the filament and cardboard core on the adapter. Worked great and I guess made eno
