I've tried several spool holders that either didn't print well or work as described. The part dimensions were incorrect, so after hours of printing the thing became file 13, or once assembled and the spool was installed, the spool fell off and my unattended print went wrong.
Solution... Design and print my own design and proof it before giving it to the masses.
So here you go a spool holder designed and assembled in solidworks prior to printing and able to handle full sized 1kg rolls up to 95mm or 3.74" wide, since there's a wide variety of spool designs on the market from different vendors.
The design is simple with Two vertical supports and two spool spindle pins and only one of the remaining parts all printed in ABS. The spool spindle pins are designed with slight draft angle to allow for easy assembly and spool changes.
Another great invention for my 3d printer here at Bullseye Body, LLC. This tool aids in first article proofing prior to production run injection molding
