As soon as I purchased a 3D printer, there was an immediate need for a reliable filament winder. At first, like many beginners, I was winding by hand. Then I tried to wind it on a stool, attaching a handle to the spool and shaking it. There are many filament winders on 3D printing resources, I even printed out a couple of versions, but none of them stood the test of rewinding plastic for kilometers. One of them fell apart on the first reel, the second one melted. Yes, the design and design solution of these winders were excellent, because they were created by people with education. But, obviously, the task of making the device reliable was not in front of them. I filled this gap in 3D printing and created my own reliable filament winder. I may have borrowed something from these designs, but in general I developed it myself in my favorite program Compass 3D. I chose MDF panels as the basis of my winder, to which the gearbox frames are attached with the help of furniture ties. There are holes in the frames for shaft lubrication. Before rewinding, I recommend adding a little lubricant with a syringe. I chose large gears to ensure reliable operation. I made the mounting of the shafts in such a way as to securely hold the part and not drill the shaft. And as shafts, I used a furniture tube with a diameter of 16 mm. I also publish all my work in my telegram channel https://t.me/Baturin_3D where you can join and follow my new projects.
