The sprengkapsel No. 8 is the explosive detonator used by German pioniers. these would be shipped separately from explosives and grenades to avoid an explosion.
The detonator would be employed in a few ways:
- placed inside ZZ42 trip fuse or gluhzunder 28.
- Have the time fuse or detonator cord inserted into the opening and secured using electrical tape, and placed inside the well of an explosive.
- Have a time fuse inserted and secured inside the detonator, and have a detonator cord taped securely to the outside of the detonator to ignite the cord.
