Stair Tread Template

I needed a stair tread template to redo the stairs in my house. They are not very expensive to buy, but it would be more fun to print one with a 3D printer.

I created a narrow (6.5 inch / 165.1 mm) and a wide version (8 inch / 203.2 mm). Common tread in the US is 8 to 10 inches. The narrow is good for riser with nosing or a lip.

You will need a piece of wood that fits in the space between the two pieces (H x W: 20.6 x 50.8 mm or 0.81 x 2 in). Cut it to length to fit your stairs. The height is adjustable. A common lumber size in the US is 0.75 in thick.

You may need to adjust the bolt slightly to make it work with the hole. On my printer, they fit perfectly.
