Star Map in Braille

This star map was made as a part of an installation by ITEDA Mendoza for popularization of Astronomy for Tecnopolis science fair in Argentina, supported by FOPAA (Fundación Observatorio Pierre Auger Argentina).

The challenge of this proposal was to create a 1m diameter star map for people who can see and for the blind, allowing the recognition of what can be observed with the naked eye for a certain month, a day and to certain time.

The star map contains visible stars without a telescope for the southern hemisphere, represented according to their magnitude and allows the identification of the constellations from the names printed in Braille.

The model was splited in several pieces for printing with a standard 20cmx20cm printer. See the part reference image when assembling the printed pieces.
