The StarEx spectroscope is amazing; the known Achilles heel is some flexing on the connection of the collimation block. You will still get great spectra, but the wavelengths are all shifted if you change the orientation of your scope (for example taking long guided exposures). This is fixable with a bracket that you can print yourself - design from the C Buil website, or order from a print shop. This is my version.
This edition fits on a LR (300 lines/mm) - the focus side is a bit different from the HR version of StarEx, so thats a geometry that would not work for this design.
what you need;
- stainless steel 1/4 20 x 2-1/2 (about 60mm long) bolts (2x)
- matching nylon nuts 1/4 20 (2x)
- m3x8x5mm insert, thread brass knurled (2x)
- m3 screws (to tighten camera ring) (2x)
I printed in PLA, would recommend PECG-CF for best outdoor use. Insert the "inserts" using the tip of a hot soldering iron for best results.
