This is an acrylic model of just the piston and flywheel from a steam engine. It is made from laser-cut acrylic. It should be possible to make using an ordinary desktop laser cutter able to cut 1/8" (3mm) acrylic. Photos and videos can be seen at http://mechanicalgifs.com
