Within the framework of the curricular activity "Synthesis of mechanisms and machines", of the mechanical engineering degree at the National University of Rosario (UNR), Argentina, the challenge proposed by NASA was taken as a guideline to carry out this publication: Low Leakage Cryogenic Disconnects for Fuel Transfer and Long-Term Storage, together with one of the topics seen in the subject: Divergent Convergent Creative Postprocessing. https://grabcad.com/challenges/low-leakage-cryogenic-disconnects-for-fuel-transfer-and-long-term-storage The presented design is based on a one-way valve with no dead zone that opens due to the action of the flow overcoming the force of the springs. The seal is produced by the metal-to-metal contact between the conical ring and the groove. And to ensure the connection, two locks activated by hydraulic actuators (not shown) were designed, based on the classic lock of cookie jars. This system will not only help to finish aligning the coupling, but also prevents any type of reaction force from being generated and transmitted to the vehicle.
