This is a weekend project I'm just machining now. For a low temperature Stirling engine it's beneficial to have a displacer cylinder that is thermally insulated from the power cylinder. Lots of people use acrylic, some use glass, but I figured that wood should work quite well for low temperatures (or even some moderate ones.) I made the displacer cylinder out of two layers simply because I didn't have thick enough wood stock at the time :P. The metal is either aluminium or brass, and the displacer is going to be some kind of sealed foam (anything light that can withstand the temperature and displace the air should do.) The CAD is pretty complete, there are some places I may have to glue or silver solder, and I used little spacers here and there, but ultimately this should be all you need to build your own! By all means let me know if there is anything wrong with any of the files or if you need a different format and I'll do my best to upload them!
