A design concept, using sheet metal (aluminium) with a general wall thickness of 1.5 mm, instead of plastic material. A reworked and optimized version is available since June 17th, 2022 If interested download the folder "Optimized Version". The assembling of the RUBBER BANDS are easier, than previous versions. Two new models for 3D printing are now available too (Version D) and (Version G). /!\ ATTENTION (Out Of Date), see the four rows above /!\ An updated model of the SUN VISOR (Sheet Metal Part) is available. The reason: A prototype has been manufactured by myself. I used a stable cardboard with a thickness of 1 mm and changed the position of the upper suspensions for the elastic band (rotated 180 degrees) I am very satisfied with the result, because the SUN VISOR could be well fixed on the NAVIGATION SYSTEM and remains well in position. Notes: I used the NAVIGATION SYSTEM, made by "TomTom", with the designation START 62. The model of the housing is a 'Dummy' (simplified representation) only, but with the right dimensions of the display and the outer front dimensions of the plastic housing. For fastening the SUN VISOR onto the NAVIGATION SYSTEM I used two rubber bands. The cross-section diameter of the RUBBER BAND is 2 mm. The inner bending radii of the sheet metal component are 0.5 mm. A flatened model of the sheet metal component is available too. A thin protecting foil - not modeled - can be used alternatively for protecting the support area on the plastic housing. You can use also this design concept for creating your own SUN VISOR as a 3D printed device. The assembly of the model is available as a STEP file (.stp) only. Components, without the RUBBER BAND and NAVIGATION SYSTEM, are available in the STEP- and STL format.
