Surprise Christmas Tree

Inspired by the surprise eggs, I came up with this Surprise Christmas Tree. If you peer into the star it shows the year. The hinged halves close with a satisfying snap if your retraction/extrusion settings are correct. PETG is my favorite medium. But PLA works grat.too. They should be printed upside down. If you can get a print to stick really good to your bed you can print the tree without a raft. My preference for guaranteed success is to manually place some support under the first "tear" of the tree from the base in Simplify3D. That seems to give it enough to succeed and does not effect the surface finish. Merry Christmas!
