My garage door is operated by a wireless keyfob remote (Merlin+ 2.0, Model E945M). So that I can remotely trigger the garage door from my front door, I decided to integrate the keyfob into an existing light switch by the front door.
Over time, I found the main keyfob button becoming less sensitive to the press. This happens as the button membrane resistive material wares. The new momentary contact switch in series with a 500 Ohms resistor wires directly to the keyfob PCB along, significantly improving the garage activation reliability.
The existing light switch was dual gang. So the need was to integrate a momentary switch into a new light switch front panel with the same overall size, mounting holes and retain the existing light switching. The new design had to also incorporate behind the new switch panel the keyfob PCB, too. To make space for the new parts, the existing switches were re-orientated from horizontal to vertical alignment and shifted to the left.
