I saw something like this but it didn't suit me. I wanted it sleeker and I wanted to write on it so I just could write out a dozen generic. So this is it!
It strips on to cables sideways (alongside) to be the least cumbersome. A single takes about 10min to print, 10 takes 1h45min. Don't ask me, ask my printer.
It is REALLY thin so you do need to go down to 0,1 resolution.
The strips I use are a little bit larger than 4mm wide and about 1,5mm thick. The width is almost 2mm more at the widest, so there's room for more.
