Some time ago I bought a Current Amplifier Tektronix AM-503 but without the probe. After some brain-burn I´ve decided to build one current probe due prohibitive prices on e-bay.

It consist of a small ferrite core, C & I shapes with 50 turns of 32AWG wire for AC sensing and an Hall Effect linear mode device for DC. Electronics is ok but the mechanics was tricky to replicate ipsis literis.

So, I decided to redesign everything in 2 ways.
1) Clamp mode for cual C-cores and a;
2) Slider one, very similar to the original but simpler.
For the slider one the C-core is housed in the bottom part as electronics and conections, I-core in top part, a small steel spring (6mm dia.) between them, cable (7x22 AWG) passes trough back part and a small grip and cover finalizes the assembly.

Drawings are self-explicative.
