The title of this object is, “The Witch’s Complex Hat” by GMUMath401Student1. This object was created to fulfill the requirements of printing a multivariable calculus function to help explain calc 3 concepts to students. The level curves will help the students get a more hands-on understanding of them. This was for the class Math 401 due by October 26, 2022. This object was created using the Mathematica code provided by the instructor Evelyn Sanders. The main alteration made to the code was changing the function to be polar since the original wasn’t written in polar coordinates. The code and the images mentioned in this summary are in the photos section.
The function used to create the object is the real part of the function 0.5*Log(z) where z = x + yi. Since the function is undefined at 0, I made it so that it will only go from 1 to 0.05. The distance from 0.05 and 0 is smaller than the thickness of the object which is 1.75 mm for the base and 2.25 mm for the level curves. For this r
