TheNose is a gadget for monitoring in-door air quality and visualizing it with a RGB LED shining through the tip. In addition, the data is saved to a MQTT broker in the local network, so that all values are available on a Node-Red dashboard. The electronics consists of an Adafruit SGP30 air quality sensor breakout board, an Adafruit si7021temperature and humidity board, and finally an additional prototyping board carrying the ESP8266 controller as well as the LED and a voltage regulator. TheNose is also including a small 20 mm Fan to ensure a permanent air flow through the housing. This is needed to avoid temperature raise due to the power dissipation of the electronic components.
I printed the nostril grids with black PLA and the other parts in white to allow the LED shining through the material. The Fan mount is printed of TPE (Filaflex Ultrasoft Shore 70A) so that Fan vibrations are isolated from the bottom plate.
