This is from a failed/abandoned project, but I thought my method for supporting tall thin objects might be useful to others.
Tall thin objects can get messy or even collide with the nozzle due to warping and vibration. I came up with this method to add some stability to prevent this.
I added small tabs partway up the model. When support is turned on in the slicer, those tabs create additional points of contact with the bed to help steady the print. In this example, there is only one level of these tabs, but I imagine that on very tall and thin prints, multiple levels could be added as needed to ensure steadiness over the full vertical range.
I would love to see some kind of vertical support option like this integrated into slicers
