My elderly mother had a bunch of screws sticking out of her night stand that she would use to hold things like her flashlight among other things ... well ... she can fall down sometimes or even roll out of bed and I imagined her hitting her head on one of those screws, so I made a gizmo similar to this one that could hold her stuff yet not cause her harm if she happened to land on it. The first version didn't work so well, the posts ended up breaking off which I later figured out was because of the way I had to print it ... the horizontal print nature of 3D printers made it cross sectionally weak... so I decided to re-design it to use the horizontal nature of 3D printing in my favor which is what you see here.
If you print it with all the flat surface on the platform with the posts also on the platform, it will have some decent strength to it. I used TPU with 100% infill and that did a nice job. It's rigid, but still soft. And I created the globes at the tips to eliminate any poss
