Do you hate the Bachmann standard coupling that comes with Thomas & Friends stock, too? I sure do. So, I designed this (mostly) prototypical print-in-place three link coupling. It uses a 0-80 by ¾" machine screw to hold two of the loops together. Everything pivots the way it should and using the screw allows the distance between cars to be adjusted. Though, I recommend using the full length of the screw shaft. Simply snip the screw head off of one screw and thread the links onto each end of the screw. This is version 2 already because I was all set to publish v1, when I had a failure at the pins. I went back to the model and reinforced the pins because of this failure. Update 5/4/25: I can now say that I am quite confident in the pulling power of this design on a level grade. I have tested it extensively at a recent train show and had no failure, even after pulling a string of flat bed cars with load.
