With a mix of bricks, marble, and limestone, the exterior of the house is built with elegant yet heavy weight materials, to ensure that the building is created with quality in mind. The large glass windows not only compliment the simplistic design of the walls, but are specifically placed to add natural light where needed inside the building; for example: the greenhouse. The interior of the house inverts the colour of the exterior with a black hardwood finish on the floor, and marble tiles in the kitchen and washroom. The house has all living necessities, while remaining compact, and having an ecological footprint of 488ft². The house has a total square footage of only 776ft², proving the compactness of the building. There is enough space inside the house for the average Canadian family to live comfortably. The use of limestone not only looks graceful, but is very readily available in Canada, leaving the house built with ecologically friendly materials. The kitchen is built to seem spacious, has a back door, and has a stairway leading to the balcony. The balcony has a glass fence surrounding it, fitting together effortlessly with the rest of the exterior. The greenhouse takes up a small surface area underneath the balcony, and is surrounded by two large windows to let in natural light for the plants. The roof is on a slight, unnoticeable, angle, so that all precipitation slides off the top, to prevent the roof from caving in. This house provides for a comfortable lifestyle, while remaining ecologically friendly at the same time.
