My objective was to have lightest possible design with good fatigue properties. The use of additive manufacturing gives great design freedom but it should also be easy to inspect with no hidden spaces. My own challenge was to not spend more than 40 hrs with the design and simulation of the bracket. Topology optimization was used for the four load cases and from this an interpolated model was created. FEA was used to get the stress levels and some modifications was needed, this was confirmed in a new topology analysis and the model was finalized after some additional FEA. Final weight of 372 g is a 82 % weight reduction from base file and max deformation is below 1 mm in the used boundary conditions .
